A husband and wife from our church were brave enough to stand before hundreds of other couples and give an account of their marriage.  The husband was humble, addressing his pasts sins he committed against his wife, including pornography and prostitution.  His addictions held him captive for many years.

It was a devastating testimony to listen to, although hearing that he overcame his addictions and also hearing his wife’s side of the story, filled the entire room with hope.  We saw the Lord’s hand at work in their lives and in the end He was glorified.

What stood out to me the most was something the wife mentioned.   When asked, “How did you hang on to your marriage for so long, with the hurt and pain that was accruing?”

She responded, “I had to see my husband as Jesus saw him. My husband, a man full of sin, needed Jesus, and salvation was priority.”

With that kind of a mentality, that wife was able to carry on in her marriage, despite the pain of betrayal, hoping in faith that her husband would one day be saved.  Her life and how she responded to her husband was motivated by that hope.

By the end of the story the couple was smiling with peaceful countenances.   It was obvious that God had saved her husband and her marriage.  That does not mean this wife was did not feel hurt and it does not mean that this couple did not experience difficult days… we all do and we all will.  However, it seemed this wife found a key to striving through the hard times and receiving healing… and that is by claiming an attitude of faith and seeing your spouse as Jesus does.

Dear God,

As the world continues to fall into sin, we pray for protection.  Please help us to resist and flee temptations.  We pray that husbands and wives would commit to Holy Matrimony!  That they would seek to keep you in the center of their relationship.  We pray that you would protect marriages from the threats of the enemy.  Help our marriages to be strong.  May we continue to draw closer to you God as you refine us.  We submit our marriage before you, praying that you would help us face each day with love in our hearts, motivating our actions in Jesus name AMEN!

On February 22nd, I, along with many others, committed to a 40-day fast.  You can read the blog article explaining the beginning of the fast by clicking ~> HERE!

The End Of The 40 Day Fast For Marriage my story encouragements for wives prayer marriage 40 day fast Unveiled Wife

As each one of us decided to fast from different things, our goals were to draw closer to God, and pray more, especially over marriage.  Many of us had a few other specific things that we were praying earnestly for.

I would love to briefly share with you my experience with God during the fast, however, I also hope that anyone who also committed to the fast would share their experience or any answered prayers they received.  Please do not hesitate to share about your fast in the comments below!  We are all eager to hear!

I was excited at the start of the fast!  I knew God was testing my obedience and I was prepared to show Him that I was capable of exercising self-control.  The point of the fast was to give-up something that would surely be missed, and in those times of “want” be reminded to pray.  I chose to avoid eating sweets, coffee, and using my cellphone in bed.  I was going strong for the first two weeks, but then my desire for the things I was missing grew more intense each day.  However, as I stayed away from them, I was reminded to pray for the things I was seeking God for.  I did not exercise my self-control perfectly the entire 40 days, but when I failed, I didn’t let that stop me.  I pushed forward, eager to complete the fast I was dedicated to.  The most difficult out of all of them, seemed to be the cellphone in bed.  I often caught myself – or was made aware by my husband – that I was on my phone checking Facebook when I shouldn’t have been.  Some habits are really hard to break, but I am a lot more aware of my actions now!

As much as I did feel like I was growing closer to God and praying more, I felt a little distracted during this fast.  A few weeks into it I found out that I was pregnant!  As excitement flooded my entire body, I also ended up really sick.  Many days I found myself unable to crack open the bible, eager to get to bed earlier and sleep off some of the morning sickness.  There should be no excuse, my relationship with God is very important to me, but the truth is I was distracted.  On the other hand, my husband and I have both been praying for our marriage, for us as parents, and for the baby.  So in other ways I do feel closer to God.

I really enjoyed committing to this fast.  It helped me become more aware of my actions, making it easier for me to make the adjustments in life I feel God is calling me to make.  It also showed me what areas I am weak in, and my hope is to continue to exercise self-control and obedience as I am transformed to be more like Jesus.  I hope and continue to pray for marriages all over the world.  I pray that husbands and wives are restored, marriages are reconciled, and that God gets positioned in the center of them!  There were a few personal prayers answered that I am very thankful for, and still others that I will continue to pray for.

Dear Lord,

Thank you for loving us.  Thank you for giving us your Holy Spirit to guide us.  Thank you for being who you are, magnificent, powerful, and our refuge.  We pray that we can share the same love with others that you have.  May you fill our hearts with kindness and good intention.  Show us who we can bless today, including our spouses.  May your Holy Spirit overwhelm us with a desire to seek out how to be a helpful servant where ever we are today.  We submit this day to you Lord.  Lead us in love! AMEN!

Please share this PRAYER chain with friends and families to get it circulating!  Add your prayers in the comment section and please take a moment to pray for others!

“So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.”

-John 8:36

Dear Lord, thank you so much for the freedom that you have given us. For those who have yet to find this freedom, I pray you will show them the way. Please give them hope when things are not the way they had hoped. Lord thank you for their hearts and love for you; thank you for all you have done for each of us and all that you will do for us. AMEN

Dear Lord,

We lift up our families to you.  Please watch over us and protect us from the evil snares of the enemy.  As we continue to draw close to you, we know that the enemy persists to take us down.  We ask that you would strengthen us, guide us, and help us to resist him and run to you!  Holy Spirit please fill us with wisdom and help us to follow you.  May we be transformed by the renewing of our minds and may our character reflect yours.  May husbands and wives all over the world come to know you and trust you.  Thank you for our families and our marriages in Jesus name we pray AMEN!

Considering All Circumstances...Joy devotionals for wives and marriage Wife Devotionals joy faith Christian Community Unveiled Wife

“ Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials,  knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.  And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” – James 1:2-4

We are to considerate all circumstances… JOY!  This can often be a difficult attitude to have when certain situations bombard your mind with fear and worry, but there is a reason God tells us to do this.  For trials test our faith, the very foundations of our belief in Christ, which then produces endurance.  Scripture goes on to tell us that the result of endurance makes us perfect and complete.

There are many mysteries of God’s Word that we won’t fully understand until it’s proved to us in our own lives.  So when hardships come and we are able to have joy, then we gain understanding.

I believe it is also important to note that joy is not that same as happiness.  Joy is deeper.  Especially when hard times hit, I don’t think we are suppose to be happy and giddy, but we are suppose to hang on to our joy.

Marriage produces all kinds and all sizes of trials all the time.  Are we going to respond with JOY, having faith that no matter what is thrown our way God is bigger and will be with us?

Dear Jesus,

For the joy set before you, you endured the cross.  You knew that although it would cost your life, that it would be painful, and shameful, you endured the cross.  You brought salvation to us!  There is not a big enough thank you that could be said.  As we endure life as a living testimony of who you are, may we tell others of God’s good news.  Even as life gets tough, marriage gets rough, and trials try to take us down, we pray for joy, knowing that we are living to share the gospel with others.  Please help me, transform my mind, so that when hard times do press, I can endure it for your sake.  Give me strength, courage, and a humble heart in your powerful name we pray AMEN!

Mike,

You are my True Love and with everything we have been through I just want you to know that God is greater than all our problems. We just need to let Him be in control of US!

Dear Lord,

I know there are a ton of things in my character that need changing.  I am an imperfect person.  Thank you for the transformation I continue to make as your Holy Spirit leads me.  I pray that I become more like you everyday.  I also pray that my faults would not hinder my marriage.  I pray that I can be a respectable wife who honors and cherishes my husband.  I pray I can speak to him kindly and show him my love.  Likewise, I pray that my husband can love and respect me.  I desire our marriage to be one that reflects your perfect love Lord!  Please help us to have a solid relationship, where that reflection shines bright! AMEN!
