4 Ways To Parent Like God parenting parenting faith Unveiled Wife

God illustrates a beautiful example of parenting throughout His Holy Word.  Below are a few scriptures that reveal what type of Father God is and we can apply these verses to help us become even better parents.

Also, please join me at The Better Mom today as I share a revelation I had about Parenting Like God.

4 Ways To Parent Like God:

1. “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” – 1 John 3:1

God parents with love.  He doesn’t just love, but He lavishes it on us!

2. “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” – James 1:17

God gives good and perfect gifts, and He is consistent in His character.

3. “As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.” – Psalm 103:13

God has compassion on His children.

4. “My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline, and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.” – Proverbs 3:11-12

God disciplines out of love.

God’s Word is alive and active.  It is a manual for life, our guide to knowing God and how to live like Him.  Bible verses are a powerful resource that increase our faith, encourage our confidence, and bring peace to our hearts.

As I prepare for motherhood I am realizing that there are many concerns that arise in regards to parenting.  I am also aware that different concerns will come and go as my child develops through different life stages.

It is important for a mother to bring those concerns, worries, or fears before the Lord.  And as we search His Holy Word for comfort we can cling to the hopes and promises He graciously gives us and apply them when situations get overwhelming.  For example,  when financial burdens weigh one down or feelings of inadequacy quench one’s joy, rest in these words:

“For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!” – 2 Corinthians 4:17

Being a Mother is one of the most difficult jobs you will ever have.  Being a stepmother… well, let’s just say at times it can be even more difficult than being a mother.  Now I cannot speak for every stepmother, I can only tell you about my journey as a stepmom.  A rocky road filled with jewels.
