Prayer Of The Day – Controlling Anger

Dear Lord,

I am so sorry for my anger.  I know that it is sin when I take out my anger on my husband in a negative way.  Please help me to have self-control when it comes to anger.  I realize that anger is an emotion that you designed us to have, but like anything it can be misused.  I need to be quick to listen, gracious, and understanding.  I know that I need to control my angry emotions and I pray that you would help me not to sin in my anger. I pray for other wives or husbands who struggle with their anger.  May your Holy Spirit transform our hearts and help us heal from anger.  Deliver us Lord, in Jesus name AMEN!

Recognizing anger as fear, being able to communicate that fear and submit it to the Lord is also a powerful skill. My sweet husband was dealing with anger towards me for a little while and we worked together to realize that his fear was that I did not respect him because of the short tone I had been using with him due to my anxiety issues. long story short I am on medication and we have crossed that hurdle! Praise God. He is gentle as a lamb because I am too! He’s not on defense anymore like a wounded animal. Anger is always a sign of some underlying fear.

Wow. Thank you for this prayer. I saw today’s prayer for Passion (this was yesterday’s post) and scrolled down to see this prayer for yesterday. Wouldn’t you know yesterday was the day I needed this prayer!! Thank you for praying for me yesterday (without even knowing about it!). I, too, pray that wives and mother’s are slow to speak and slow to get angry. It’s how God wants us to be! It’s so hard sometimes, but it’s great to know that other women are praying for each other. Have a blessed day, and thanks again!
