My good friend and fellow blogger, Fawn Weaver, founder of Happy Wives Club,  is sharing on the next part of our What Is Love Marriage Series! She brings to light something that we have all experienced in some form, and encourages to remain hopeful in marriage! Enjoy!

Love Always Hopes

Early in my marriage, I noticed something peculiar.  Although people claimed to be happy for my new husband, Keith, and me and excited about our new life together, the “advice” they would give us didn’t seem to line up with that truth.  We were continuously confronted by negative comments about marriage everywhere we turned.  We were dumbfounded by the number of friends, family members and casual acquaintances who would make comments with regard to how difficult marriage is and how once the “honeymoon phase” ends we will need to face the realities of marriage.

4 Ways To Parent Like God parenting parenting faith Unveiled Wife

God illustrates a beautiful example of parenting throughout His Holy Word.  Below are a few scriptures that reveal what type of Father God is and we can apply these verses to help us become even better parents.

Also, please join me at The Better Mom today as I share a revelation I had about Parenting Like God.

4 Ways To Parent Like God:

1. “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” – 1 John 3:1

God parents with love.  He doesn’t just love, but He lavishes it on us!

2. “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” – James 1:17

God gives good and perfect gifts, and He is consistent in His character.

3. “As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.” – Psalm 103:13

God has compassion on His children.

4. “My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline, and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.” – Proverbs 3:11-12

God disciplines out of love.

I hope these verse encourage you as a child of God and as a parent!  Don’t forget to check out The Better Mom where I am contributing today!

Letter To My Husband Courageous Warrior For Our King letter to my husband Warrior respect marriage love father faith courageous Unveiled Wife

A husband and wife from our church were brave enough to stand before hundreds of other couples and give an account of their marriage.  The husband was humble, addressing his pasts sins he committed against his wife, including pornography and prostitution.  His addictions held him captive for many years.

It was a devastating testimony to listen to, although hearing that he overcame his addictions and also hearing his wife’s side of the story, filled the entire room with hope.  We saw the Lord’s hand at work in their lives and in the end He was glorified.

What stood out to me the most was something the wife mentioned.   When asked, “How did you hang on to your marriage for so long, with the hurt and pain that was accruing?”

She responded, “I had to see my husband as Jesus saw him. My husband, a man full of sin, needed Jesus, and salvation was priority.”

With that kind of a mentality, that wife was able to carry on in her marriage, despite the pain of betrayal, hoping in faith that her husband would one day be saved.  Her life and how she responded to her husband was motivated by that hope.

By the end of the story the couple was smiling with peaceful countenances.   It was obvious that God had saved her husband and her marriage.  That does not mean this wife was did not feel hurt and it does not mean that this couple did not experience difficult days… we all do and we all will.  However, it seemed this wife found a key to striving through the hard times and receiving healing… and that is by claiming an attitude of faith and seeing your spouse as Jesus does.

Considering All Circumstances...Joy devotionals for wives and marriage Wife Devotionals joy faith Christian Community Unveiled Wife

“ Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials,  knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.  And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” – James 1:2-4

We are to considerate all circumstances… JOY!  This can often be a difficult attitude to have when certain situations bombard your mind with fear and worry, but there is a reason God tells us to do this.  For trials test our faith, the very foundations of our belief in Christ, which then produces endurance.  Scripture goes on to tell us that the result of endurance makes us perfect and complete.

There are many mysteries of God’s Word that we won’t fully understand until it’s proved to us in our own lives.  So when hardships come and we are able to have joy, then we gain understanding.

I believe it is also important to note that joy is not that same as happiness.  Joy is deeper.  Especially when hard times hit, I don’t think we are suppose to be happy and giddy, but we are suppose to hang on to our joy.

Marriage produces all kinds and all sizes of trials all the time.  Are we going to respond with JOY, having faith that no matter what is thrown our way God is bigger and will be with us?

Colton Dixon just recently made it as a Top 24 contestant on American Idol Season 11!  The interesting thing about Colton is that he actually made it quite far with the judges in last year’s American Idol Season 10, but for some reason, he was not chosen as a Top 24.  This young man has been gifted so much talent, and I believe God has a perfect plan for him!  You see Colton was very revealing about his faith in Jesus, and since his first run on American Idol, he has grown quite a large community of fans, many being Christians.

My husband and I first met Colton after the first season of American Idol he had auctioned for.  My husband had the opportunity to photograph Colton when he modeled for C28 Christian apparel.

Then Colton appeared at our church where our Pastor, Chuck Booher, interviewed him, revealing a little more about who Colton is and what he believes. Then he preformed for the congregation.  Following him though American Idol I thought he was good, but after hearing his passion for God and then hearing him play live was phenomenal.  After the service my husband and I met up with Colton just to say hi.   I am sure he had the opportunity to visit many other churches, leading to the increase of even more fans.  Shortly after he left American Idol Season 10, he even appeared on Ellen!

Well this year Colton was not planning on re-auditioning for American Idol, but he did show up to support his sister, Schyler.  During her audition the judges encouraged Colton to sing for them, and they gave him a spot in the competition.  The auditioning recently wrapped up, along with Hollywood week, and the semi-finalist were announced.  As the judges chose the top 12 male performers, Colton Dixon was given a chance!

Yesterday, Colton Dixon came back to visit our church.  Towards the end of the service Pastor Chuck announced that Colton was present, inviting him to the stage for a prayer.  It was a very beautiful prayer, asking God to guide Colton and to use him to His glory!  The congregation was also encouraged to follow Colton’s journey on American Idol and to vote for him. I truly believe God is using this opportunity Colton has in American Idol for great things and my husband and I will be supporting him to the end!  Our hope is that he becomes the next American Idol, but more than that, we pray that Colton’s faith is shared with many more people, glorifying God’s name, and bringing others to know Him!

Please tune in and show your support to Colton for the premiere performance of the Top 24 this Tuesday February 28th! 8/7c on FOX!

When the movie The Vow hit theaters recently, I could not wait to go and see it.  In fact, my girlfriends and I somehow managed to get a large group together to go see the film, including our husbands!  There were 14 couples in all!

The Vow A Story Inspired By Truth encouragements for wives woman review marriage Inspiration faith Encouragement Christian Community Unveiled Wife

I could not imagine experiencing something so tragic!  The two main characters are married for 5 years when a car accident wipes the memory of the wife, Paige,  played by Rachel McAdams.  The husband, Leo, played by Channing Tatum, then tries desperately to convince her of their love.  I thought that the movie would resolve the love between the characters a bit more, but the last image at the end does help with closure; revealing a photograph of the real couple who inspired the film, along with their two children.

After the movie, all 14 of us stood in the lobby of the theaters, discussing what we would do if we had encountered a similar situation.  Even after we had all dispersed for the day, my husband and I continued the conversation.  My husband affirmed his love for me, assuring me that if anything like that ever happened, he would do everything he could to keep me as his wife! A few days after watching The Vow, I stumbled across an interview of the couple who inspired the movie, Kim and Krickett Carpenter.  As I viewed the clip I heard a few things stand out to me that added an even deeper meaning to the whole story!

The Vow A Story Inspired By Truth encouragements for wives woman review marriage Inspiration faith Encouragement Christian Community Unveiled Wife

Krickett mentions, “The Lord is the great physician.”  Indeed He is!  She trusted the Lord to reconcile their relationship and He did!  She never regained her memory leading up to the accident, but she did fall back in love with husband Kim, and the two even remarried.

When Kim is asked, “Why didn’t you give up?” he responded,

“We live in a society where vows are constantly broken… and forty years ago ’til death do us part’  was the death of a soul mate and today its the death of a marriage that society has accepted.”

When Kim said those words my heart sank!  It is so true!  The vows that people are committing to are being weakened and disregarded, and our society is accepting that.  I believe that is a dangerous place to be.

Kim also added, “With faith you do the right thing.”  I loved that he and his wife are sharing their faith, and how their faith brought them back together, making their relationship stronger than ever.

Krickett said, “I chose to love Kim out of obedience to God. You need to stay committed… you have trials in your life and you have to keep persevering.”

These are powerful words to live by in marriage.  I pray that more and more faithful couples would set an example for our society and the generations being raised up.  People need to see how a marriage can withstand hardships when God is in the center!

Although the film did not reveal a Christian theme, I was thrilled to find out the truth that inspired the movie!  I hope that the interest in The Vow gets directed to Kim and Krickett’s real life love story and how God brought them through it!

Foxnews.com posted an article which included this excerpt:

“In my opinion, God is a huge part of ‘The Vow,’ albeit metaphorically,” said Shawn McEvoy,
the managing editor of the Christian website Crosswalk.com. “The love with which Leo pursues Paige, even after she no longer really remembers or even wants him, is the tireless love with which God pursues His people.”

What would you do if your spouse suffered an injury that took away any memory of you?

This interview of the truth behind The Vow added to the quality of the film for me.  I must note that movies like this can stir up emotions and even expectations of what a relationship should be, and as wives we need to be careful that we do not become ungrateful for our own love stories! (Movies that portray very romantic ideas, including dates and romantic gestures) We need to make sure that we hold our marriages in high esteem, without comparing the qualities, especially of a Hollywood made film.  I have a horrible pattern of seeing movies like this, comparing my marriage, and then projecting negative attitudes onto my husband due to his seemingly lack of romance abilities, making him feel inadequate.  Every love story is unique and personal.  The best thing to do, if inspired by a film, is to gently communicate things to your husband that you would be interested in, and both of you can incorporate those things over time.  I am learning how to do this.

(Also side note: Although I enjoyed this movie, please be cautious for there is a bit of nudity, in one scene exposing Channing’s rear end.)

Tim Tebow, quarterback for the Denver Broncos, has been dominating the football media recently. It seemed like many of the NFL coverage shows could not get away from highlighting Tebow, including his unique story of birth, and his life accomplishes up to the present including his book that landed on The New York Times Best Seller list called Through My Eyes . Whether criticizing or praising Tebow, his skills and his faith have been under examination.

Tebowmania has caught fire, many people respond negatively towards the attention he has received, while many others continue to jump on the bandwagon. Tebow’s faith has aroused tons of persecution as well as applaud. Some fans were redesigning number 15′s jersey to read Jesus, while others imitate his prayer posture nicknaming it “Tebowing.”

Critics may slander the young athletes dedicated faith, but Tebow remains unwavering. He continues to profess Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior every opportunity he gets. Despite the Broncos defeat in New England, it seems as though many Tebow fans will be eagerly waiting the Broncos return next season. And although Denver’s loss was unfortunate, taking them out of the play-offs, Focus on the Family took advantage of a great opportunity to share a commercial in the beginning of the game reciting John 3:16, a bible verse that Tebow shares often.

With the hype and excitement of Tebowmania many people are becoming aware of Tim Tebow, especially of his faith in God. During the season Tebow selflessly invited special guests to the Bronco games, spending time with them before and after each game. His character on and off the field is one of genuine leadership and no one can doubt that he has the gift of influence.

Is Tebow changing the game for our husbands, fathers, and sons?

The football game may remain, but for some men who are invested into this sport, the game of life is definitely changing! As Tebow continues to exemplify his character before millions of spectators, people have been and will continue to be inspired by this young mans faith and courage. Just as God uses other sports figures such as Kurt Warner and Albert Pujols to do good and inspire others, God is using Tim Tebow to influence the football community, and we should support his efforts! Let’s pray for Tim Tebow! Let’s pray that God will continue to use him to inspire people’s faith and that he will not bend beneath the weight of scrutiny.

Has Tim Tebow made an impact on your family in a positive way?

Has he inspired you or your husband’s faith?

Has he encouraged you or your husband to put others first and care for others?

Has Tebow stirred any curiosity or motivated any random acts of kindness with any of your family members?

Is so, please share in the comments!

God,

We run to you today!  We lift up all of our fears and ask that you help us not to be afraid anymore.  Help us to trust you more with our lives, with our families, with our finances, with our everything.  Sometimes worry will cause so much stress we become paralyzed, fear cripples our ability to thrive, and our joy is stolen from us.  Please help us to be stronger.  Fill us with confidence and an unwavering faith.  No matter what may come our way, no matter what the unknown holds for us, please help us to remain confident in you!  May we not only overcome fears, but encourage others to overcome theirs, and that we testify that because of you we no longer fear.  Thank you for being our strength, our provider, our everything!  We love you Lord! AMEN!

My husband and I were driving home the other night, and as we passed by billboards that stood high above ground, there was one that made me nauseous.  The advertisement simply read: “Fast divorce and bankruptcy… call this number!”  My heart dropped from my chest from the weight of a burden I felt for the people who see that billboard on a daily basis.  I am aware that there are circumstances that lead people to one or both of these routes, but I find it disgusting how our society flaunts these two options as a quick way to make your life better.  The mentality adopted in this generation is clearly a self-centered one.  We need to be satisfied fast and easy, whatever it takes.  This is a conceited approach to life that deceives us with its temporary gratifying consumptions.  The truth is that there is nothing fast about a divorce or bankruptcy, even after the processes complete,  affects of such a tragedy linger.  I found myself immediately praying against divorce and bankruptcy.  I prayed that people would not be tempted by the sign to choose either option before exhausting their efforts to reconcile their marriage or their finances.  I prayed that people would not be deceived into thinking these temporary fixes would be fast, or easy.

We have a responsibility to be good stewards of what God has given us, whether it is our spouse, our finances, our home, our children, our knowledge, or our possessions.  We are accountable.  Let us be a light in a dark world by finding joy in our relationships, despite their hardships, and finding freedom in finances by not accumulating debt.  Let us be content in God and satisfied with the good things He has given us.  Let us fight for our marriages, in faith that better days are ahead.  Let us live below our means so we can give more to others in need.   Let us live according to a Heavenly calling, so that when people see the difference in us compared to the world they will ask us WHY?  Then, let us share the light of the gospel with them.

We have advertisements thrown at us all day, everyday; billboards line the roads, commercials steal the screen, and all kinds of ads fill up our mailboxes.  Let us be reminded every time we see one of these to thank God for what we have and pray for marriages & finances!Neon Lies Dont Call The Number, Call On God! encouragements for wives Wife Devotionals wednesday rant marriage Finances In Marriage finances faith Encouragement divorce Christian Wife Christian Husband Unveiled Wife
