Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for my life! Thank you for the many blessings you have given to me, most importantly the sacrifice of your son so that I may live with you in eternity! Thank you for transforming my heart and for continuing the good work in me that you have prepared in advance.

Thank you for my fiancé and the love that she has for me! I am so excited about experiencing marriage and living out the rest of my life with a companion. Please help me to remain in you as I learn how to balance my life and my commitment as a husband. Teach me how to be the husband my soon-to-be-wife needs. I pray that I can be the head of our family and be the spiritual leader you have called me to be!

I lay these things at your feet and ask that you guide our marriage and give us wisdom in handling every aspect of what you give us including: finances, sex, children, jobs, housing, family, friends, church and anything else that requires a decision or commitment!

I pray for protection over our marriage! Please send angels to guard our relationship from the schemes of the enemy. I ask, Lord, that you protect my fiancé from temptations that may come. Guard and protect her mind and her heart. I pray the same for me, that you protect me from temptations and guard and protect my mind and heart. Seal us and separate us from the ways of this world and help us to keep you at the center of our marriage.

I pray that we would both desire each other passionately and desire to pray with each other daily! Reveal your will for our lives and show us that we are a team working together to further your kingdom!

In Jesus Name AMEN!

I was just reading Matthew 1:18-25 and my heart dropped when Joseph was contemplating divorce.

“8This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. 19 Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. 20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”). 24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25 But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.”

Joseph was faithful to the law, but he also did not want to expose his wife to public disgrace; for although they were pledged to be married they had not yet consummated the marriage.  Before their union, she had conceived a child.  I could not imagine the stress they must have felt wondering how to deal with this situation.  Amidst the circumstances, Joseph had in mind to “divorce her quietly”… when I read this I thought about how divorce would have affected Jesus’ life.  Thankfully God divinely intervened and guided Joseph in what he should do.

Marriage can bring up quite a few complicated situations where a husband or wife may contemplate divorce.  My husband and I struggled for years in the intimacy department; our sex life was lacking and we were not feeling fulfilled in our marriage.  At different times we both contemplated divorce, but it was a fleeting thought, as God reminded us that He brought us together for His purpose.  God gave us what we needed to stay together, and over time, as we grew closer to God, we grew closer to each other.

Have you ever found yourself Contemplating Divorce?

Did you feel like God divinely intervened to guide you to stay together?

We pray for protection over marriages against the threats of the enemy. We ask for redeeming love, restoration, and healing. We pray that marriages will PREVAIL in Jesus mighty name! AMEN!

Dear Lord,
Thank you for today. Thank you for our husbands and the gift of marriage. You are an amazing God! Thank you for sending your Son and sacrificing him so that we could be free from the slavery of sin and spend eternity with you! We pray that our marriages would keep Christ at the center. Please help us to keep our focus, to understand the purpose of marriage, and to know how to operate it as you have intended.

“Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said: “If anyone comes to me and does not hate their father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.” – Luke 14:25-27

The word “hate” Jesus uses is a hyperbole, an exaggeration to get a point across. He doesn’t want us to really hate people; he just wants us to love Him so much that there is no comparison, not even with your spouse! With any relationship you have, you are called to love, but the love in your relationship with God should far exceed them all.

The good news is that Jesus has called to you too! He has commanded freedom in your life and He has laid His healing hand upon you! When you accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior you are saved through grace and the power of God is made manifest in you! No longer are you held in bondage to hopelessness, despair, pain or defeat; no longer should you look downward with a distorted perspective of life. Christ died for you so that you can be free. Isaiah 53:5 “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.”

As we continue through Passover week I have been meditating on what Christ went through for us. Passover week is the celebration of Christ’s journey to the cross, his death and resurrection. It is THE most important event in history, relevant even for us today, yet the remembrance of this Holiday gets overshadowed by the Easter Bunny, colored eggs and peeps!?! Without Christ sacrificing himself there would be no redemption by grace to cover our sins, separating us from God. What a horrible place this would be. I understand that the world would consider this only a celebration for Christians, but I know that there are Christians that don’t even hold value in this week, or not enough value anyways.
