How I Am Helping My Husband guest articles temptation prayer husband grace Unveiled WifeToday’s guest article is one of conviction and encouragement for wives.  As I read it I immediately felt God tug on my heart pertaining to this area in marriage.  Jennifer Schwickerath writes today with a revelation on how she is helping her husband, a lesson we can all learn from.  Enjoy!

Jennifer writes:

Six years ago, my husband had confessed to having looked at images online. I was devastated, but we overcame that obstacle. Soon after we celebrated our ten year anniversary, we were reading a book together when he told me that he had clicked on an icon to look at an actress. I was crushed. I thought my world was crashing down on me again. I forgave him for this and he had overcame this.

Why did this happen again and how was I going to pray for him when I felt betrayed? Read Full Article

Is There Hope For Reconciliation After Adultery? testimonies popular posts testimony reconciliation prayer pain divorce adultery Unveiled Wife

I recently received another testimony of a wife who found encouragement through Unveiled Wife while enduring a dark season in her marriage.  Her letter was very touching as she shared the pain she experienced from the threat of divorce, as well as a prayer for her husband, hoping in faith for reconciliation after adultery.  Although anonymous, this wife had a desire to be a light for other wives going through dark times.  May her words impact you as they have me.

Dear Unveiled Wife,

By reading the blogs and comments from your followers I can see many wives are hurting in their marriages. I was one of them and found hope in wives’ entries of restoration and healing. I’m hoping my story below can be of encouragement to just one person…

I posted on your Facebook page a little while ago, asking for prayer for my husband and our marriage. We endured a very dark walk while my husband contemplated leaving me and our daughter, and also committed adultery. It was the most painful and devastating time of my life. I couldn’t understand how his vows to me were no longer UNconditional, and how the hopes and dreams of our future together meant nothing to him. Most of all, I couldn’t comprehend how another woman became involved in our marriage like she had. Read Full Article

On February 22nd, I, along with many others, committed to a 40-day fast.  You can read the blog article explaining the beginning of the fast by clicking ~> HERE!

The End Of The 40 Day Fast For Marriage my story encouragements for wives prayer marriage 40 day fast Unveiled Wife

As each one of us decided to fast from different things, our goals were to draw closer to God, and pray more, especially over marriage.  Many of us had a few other specific things that we were praying earnestly for.

I would love to briefly share with you my experience with God during the fast, however, I also hope that anyone who also committed to the fast would share their experience or any answered prayers they received.  Please do not hesitate to share about your fast in the comments below!  We are all eager to hear!

I was excited at the start of the fast!  I knew God was testing my obedience and I was prepared to show Him that I was capable of exercising self-control.  The point of the fast was to give-up something that would surely be missed, and in those times of “want” be reminded to pray.  I chose to avoid eating sweets, coffee, and using my cellphone in bed.  I was going strong for the first two weeks, but then my desire for the things I was missing grew more intense each day.  However, as I stayed away from them, I was reminded to pray for the things I was seeking God for.  I did not exercise my self-control perfectly the entire 40 days, but when I failed, I didn’t let that stop me.  I pushed forward, eager to complete the fast I was dedicated to.  The most difficult out of all of them, seemed to be the cellphone in bed.  I often caught myself – or was made aware by my husband – that I was on my phone checking Facebook when I shouldn’t have been.  Some habits are really hard to break, but I am a lot more aware of my actions now!

As much as I did feel like I was growing closer to God and praying more, I felt a little distracted during this fast.  A few weeks into it I found out that I was pregnant!  As excitement flooded my entire body, I also ended up really sick.  Many days I found myself unable to crack open the bible, eager to get to bed earlier and sleep off some of the morning sickness.  There should be no excuse, my relationship with God is very important to me, but the truth is I was distracted.  On the other hand, my husband and I have both been praying for our marriage, for us as parents, and for the baby.  So in other ways I do feel closer to God.

I really enjoyed committing to this fast.  It helped me become more aware of my actions, making it easier for me to make the adjustments in life I feel God is calling me to make.  It also showed me what areas I am weak in, and my hope is to continue to exercise self-control and obedience as I am transformed to be more like Jesus.  I hope and continue to pray for marriages all over the world.  I pray that husbands and wives are restored, marriages are reconciled, and that God gets positioned in the center of them!  There were a few personal prayers answered that I am very thankful for, and still others that I will continue to pray for.

This is a guest article written by Sheela.  Her transparency is amazing and her motivation to have hope in her marriage is grounded in God’s Holy Word!  There are many of you who can probably relate to this testimony, and if so please leave a comment on how this article encouraged your faith!

Christian.  I have been married to a wonderful man for almost 16 years.  Like many couples in North America, we started sleeping together soon after we started dating and several years later we moved in together and then married.   Neither of us were involved in a church and a relationship with Jesus was nowhere on our radar screens.

After 7 years of marriage, and one miscarriage, we had our son.  He has been a joy and wonder.  So much so, that I hardly remember life before him.  In God’s faithfulness, he prompted my son to ask about Sunday school.  I hadn’t really thought about it, but at the age of 3, I thought maybe he would enjoy it…like an activity such as soccer or swimming.

The Holy Spirit revealed Himself to me after attending that church for about a year.  In my wildest dreams, I never thought that I would receive such nourishment from those church services.

I have been growing in Christ for the past 5 years and what an amazing journey it has been!  However, I’m alone on this journey in my marriage….

My husband is a good man by measurable standards.  He loves and encourages me, he is kind, tender, and affectionate, he is a wonderful father and male role model to our son.  He works hard to support us and puts us first time and time again.  But he doesn’t know Jesus.

Part of growing with Jesus is attending church, reading my bible and joining a small home group.  However, the more time I spend with Christ and His followers, the less time I am spending with my spouse.  How can I grow as a Christian and yet love and support my husband?

I don’t have the answers, but I will say that my marriage now is so much better than I ever thought possible.

Better communication

Better intimacy

Better friendship

How can that be when my husband won’t even set foot in the door of my church?

God is changing me!  I pray for my husband often, and having a heart of prayer changes my thoughts and my actions.  I am involved in my church and a small group, but God is so faithful, He reminds me when I have to spend time with my husband and ask the ladies for a rain-check.  My husband hasn’t felt jealous of my church or my Christian friends because he knows he isn’t competing with them.  I can pray and worship Jesus anywhere!

I have read and re-read this piece of scripture so many times- I know our God doesn’t make mistakes.  He wanted me to marry THIS man.  I will wait for His perfect timing.

1 Peter 3:1-2 (The Message)

“Be good wives to your husbands, responsive to their needs. There are husbands who, indifferent as they are to any words about God, will be captivated by your life of holy beauty.”

1 Peter 3:1-2 (NIV)

“Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives,  when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.”

When was the last time you checked out at a grocery store and didn’t see a magazine highlighting a celebrity relationship?

How many times has the news covered a celebrity break-up or the Internet bombarded your feed with the latest scoop of celebrity gossip?

Our culture is fascinated with having access into these celebrities’ lives, and the media often times crosses the line to make sure the most recent news is available to satisfy our interests.  However, there seems to be a lack of genuine concern for what these celebrities are actually facing.

Instead of investing in gossip, I choose to invest in LIFE and I hope that you will join me!

Think about the impact we could make in other marriages if we responded to celebrities with letters of encouragement and prayer for their marriages?

Wives influencing, comforting, and loving other wives!  I think it would be powerful and I believe God is calling us to take action!

This month the Unveiled Wife Community will be encouraging Katy Perry!

Although recent news about Katy’s marriage has been circulating, reporting that Russell Brand filed for divorce, we are going to encourage Katy during this pivotal season of her life!  Please do not pass judgment on Katy in any way and let’s stay away from mentioning any specific views about her current status with Russell Brand.  I am sure that not only is she sensitive about it at this time, but it is also a private matter.  This is also not the occasion to suggest anything negative about her career choices.  God is more concerned about letting Katy know how much He loves her, no matter what!  Let us empower Katy by sending words of encouragement and hope!

Here is my letter! An Encouraging Letter To Katy Perry popular posts encouraging letters to celebrity wives to celebrities prayer letter katy perry Encouragement Christian Community Unveiled Wife

Dear Heavenly Father,

I pray for marriages.  I ask that you would be in the center of every relationship and that husbands and wives would submit themselves to you.  I pray that husbands would find time to pray with their wives and I pray that wives would seek opportunities to pray for their husbands.  May they seek you Lord in their goals, finances, parenting, relationship, spiritual growth, and anything else that burdens their heart.  Give them understanding in how intimate of an experience pray is and give them the courage to pray with their spouse. Hear their cries O Lord, answer them in Jesus Name Amen!
