A vessel is made to contain or hold something. The River by Garth Brooks, is one of my all-time favorite songs, specifically these lyrics above. Its a song personifying a vessel. I always pray that God uses me as a vessel for His glory! No matter where I go, I hope to contain God’s glory, expressing His love to others around me. The idea cast in these lyrics is that the river is life, and you can be a vessel that sits safely on the shore, which doesn’t require too much faith, OR when presented with an opportunity, where God invites you to join Him, having faith to face whatever happens. In marriage we get many opportunities and invitations to join God as a team to be vessels of glory.
