So are you a fan of “The Office”?
It’s definitely not a show intended for everyone. The dry humor, the sarcasm and sometimes downright mean scenes, can’t possibly be liked by everyone. I know I wasn’t a fan at first! It took me a good three years to
get into…and starting with the first episode it didn’t thrust my interest any. However, I sat through many more episodes next to my husband and his bad taste in shows. I especially thought Michael Scott was the worst character on T.V. always telling crude jokes, teasing people and putting the other employees down. It was really sad to me. I can’t remember when it was that I actually started enjoying the show myself – maybe “The Office” parties we attended, where a huge group of friends gathered to laugh at the undeniably bad office manager and of course his sidekick the infamous “assistant to the regional manager” – but I sure did find an obsession myself to dedicate every Thursday night to watch it. (When Community aired it made Thursday’s that much better!)
Anyways, my point is that I hated Michael and then I guessed I warmed up to him, liking his character and understanding him better as each episode revealed something new. Now I hate that he is leaving! I guess there is a point at which people move on in their careers, but “The Office” won’t be the same. Change is hard for us sometimes. We can’t see it any other way, than what we are use to.
After years of watching Michael desperately try to win people’s love and acceptance, he is leaving The Office to pursue it, in Holly! He may be missed, but he will be sharing a journey with Holly that is beautiful and worth every ounce of life he has to give! Congratulations Michael Scott for the story you unfolded in “The Office”, the lives you touched both on screen and off. I love that your reason for leaving is LOVE. Let this be a lesson for all of us… that LOVE is worth the pursuit, that people are worth loving, that sacrifice is required and that Love is worth the sacrifice. Its a bittersweet farewell…Cheers!
PS. Michael Scott (Steve Carell) will wrap up his last episode this Thursday night on NBC! Check Showtimes Here!
