JOY “to experience great pleasure or delight: rejoice.” Need I say more??? I think it’s a beautiful thing to walk hand in hand together with your spouse. It should overfill your heart with JOY! ENJOY it at least once a day!
I was reading Hebrews 12 yesterday…and when I read verse 4 my heart sank. It was one of those moments where you feel like you have never read that verse before and God’s power strikes you to the core! “In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.” – Hebrews 12:4 I re-read it a few times and then proceeded to share it with my husband. I realized that we all struggle with sin, but how many of us resist it to the point of bloodshed. We don’t need to ask what that looks like because Jesus showed us! He leads by giving us examples and when it comes to sin, we must not regard it lightly.
A few months ago my husband and I found out about Family Life and their passion to help build healthy, God-centered marriages. We became huge supporters of this ministry immediately. A few weeks later, we went to FUSE, the marriage ministry at our church, and a couple, who use to attend our church, were guest speaking. They shared a beautiful testimony with us, explaining how God led them to Family Life and how it has blessed them in many ways. The grass is always greener on the other side… or so our culture says! It seems as though by human nature we covet, envy, get jealous and crave the next best thing. How frustrating is it when you finally have enough money to buy an iPad and a week later Apple launches the iPad 2? Or when you look over at your girlfriend’s wedding ring, you begin to compare carats! What about the conversation of Kitchen Aid appliances verses your hand-me-down/thrift-shop appliances? I LOVE art! I especially LOVE this quote by Van Gogh, Love is artistic.” There is something so beautiful between two lovers. I value the love of my Heavenly Father and the GREAT, sacrificial, unconditional love He has for me! I also strive daily to express that same kind of love toward my husband. I’m nowhere near perfect, but love is THE greatest gift any man or woman has to share… and I don’t want to waste that!
