Marriage : The Unity Of One Man & One Woman Joined Together By God

The two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” – Mark 10:8-9 Recently a reader in our community sent me a link to the video posted below.  It is a compilation of three men sharing on marriage: Paul Washer, John Piper, Voddie Baucham.  It is a great reminder of how God desires us to endure in marriage, for better or worse. If you are experiencing a season of hardship in your marriage, I hope and pray this video encourages you, and fills you with faith to hang in there!  Please take a moment to view this video and then check out my thoughts of it posted below.

Learning How To Stand Against Satan & Flee Temptation

There was a series my Pastor taught on a while back on Spiritual warfare.  We had been going through a series based on the book of Ephesians.  He said something in his sermon that really stood out to me.  Here is what he said, paraphrased: “There is a problem today, contrary to biblical teaching, where people are running from the devil and trying to stand against temptation.” I immediately evaluated my own life to see if I have done this… and I quickly realized that I have!  I often times find myself cowardly running away from Satan in fear of what he is capable of, and when it comes to temptation I tell myself, “I can handle this, I know what to do.”  When I

Among many other biblical principles, God’s Word is full of wise financial tips.  The truths He shares with us are to help us make beneficial decisions in life; many of which are made alongside our spouse.  Finances are a number one catalyst for fights among married couples; however, with God’s wisdom we can choose to avoid being part of that statistic.  Below are 4 financial tips for marriage found in Psalm 49. Considering All Circumstances…Joy

“ Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials,  knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.  And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” – James 1:2-4 We are to considerate all circumstances… JOY!  This can often be a difficult attitude to have when certain situations bombard your mind with fear and worry, but there is a reason God tells us to do this.  For trials test our faith, the very foundations of our belief in Christ, which then produces endurance.  Scripture goes on to tell us that the result of endurance makes us perfect and complete. There are many mysteries of God’s Word that we won’t fully understand until it’s proved to us in our own

The Gift Of Compassion And Comfort

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” – 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 This life is full of hardships.  We all face different things… and at times we all need comfort.  This verse is one I look up often, to remind myself that God is a God of compassion and comfort, meaning He truly cares and is with me always.  It also reminds me that God will comfort me to get through hardships so that I can comfort others as they go through their struggles. In marriage, it

Why Do Spouses Fight?

There is no such thing as a “perfect marriage!”  Why?  Because there is sin in the world, and marriage involves two sinners.  Although marriage may never be perfect, our goal should always be  1 Peter 1:15 “But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” We are called to be holy as God Himself is holy.  However, as we persevere to be holy, we may run into a few residual affects of our sin, one of those being selfishness. How many of you fight with your spouse? I know I do! James 4:1 asks, “What causes fights and quarrels among you?  Don’t they come from your desires that
