Encouragements For Wives

Encouragements For Wives are random articles intended to lift up wives including testimonies, inspirational images, quotes, etc. My hope is that wives would be empowered, no matter what condition their marriage is in, to remain committed to their husbands, pursue intimacy, and seek a God-centered relationship.

Reflecting On 2017

Every year since I first launched my blog in 2011, I have ended the year with a time of reflection. It is my way of highlighting the things that happened here on the blog and in my family life. I love to look back at the year and see how God moved in our lives and praise Him for it all! This year ended with a house full of sick kids. They got a cold that did not want to leave. Between their cold and my exhaustion, we decided to lay low at home for a few weeks, which turned out to be a huge blessing in that we spent quality family time together every day. It was great. I decided not to focus on

Living Out What I Say

A few days before Christmas I posted to Facebook and Instagram a quick encouragement and challenge to not let unmet expectations steal our joy on Christmas. I was sharing how easy it can be to have expectations and desires about how a special day like Christmas should go…but reminding us that there are times those expectations won’t be met. I knew this would be a great reminder for us all…but I didn’t imagine I would need this message to remind my heart not to be down because of what we would experience. Here is what I posted just a few days before Christmas: Christmas Eve morning our son Eliott woke up with a fever. I hoped it was a fluke and he would feel better

A Strong Marriage Doesn’t Just Happen

When Aaron and I got married, I had believed that our love would continue to grow naturally. I expected marriage to come easy to us because we loved each other so much. I thought our marriage would be strong because we had a good relationship. In my almost eleven years of being a wife, I have learned that… Strong marriages don’t just happen. Good marriages don’t just happen. Loving marriages don’t just happen. Healthy marriages don’t just happen. Thriving marriages don’t just happen.  No matter how big and deep and wide a couples love is for each other, things happen. People are imperfect. Sin severs intimacy, causing destruction in worst possible way. A strong marriage is not blindsided by these imperfections and shortcomings. Instead, a

Follow here: Instagram.com/unveiledwife I wanted to share with you what I wrote on Instagram because it seemed to resonate with many other wives and mothers. I hope this encourages you too! . . . One of the greatest adventures I have ever experienced and pursued with my husband is parenting. There is this tension always wound up in my heart of wanting to hold onto my children as babies hoping they stay little forever and yet celebrating

The One Word That Changed My Marriage

It was year 3 of our marriage. Things were rough for us then. We had yet to know what enjoyable sex was. I experienced pain every time we tried. This just amplified every single area of marriage. My husband and I were both Christians, we both wanted to serve God together, and we both had different expectations for marriage. Our first 3 years had taken a toll on us. Unmet expectations fueled a disdainful attitude toward God. We were miserable and our relationship was only hanging on by a thread. One day my husband invited me to join him at a Bible study group specifically for married couples. My heart resisted and my response was a quick, “No!” I didn’t want to be embarrassed by
