Baby Birth Story – Introducing Olive Ann

On April, 29th 2015 at 8:40pm I sat on the couch watching my son expend his last bit of energy before bed. My stomach began burning as a simultaneous burst of excitement rose in my heart. It’s happening. I was two days past my due date and eager to meet our little boy or girl. The anticipation of not knowing the gender was incredible motivation to want labor to come quickly! It didn’t take long for the burning in my abdomen to begin cramping in regular intervals. I let my husband know and we lay in bed together waiting to see how my body progressed. As I began to get restless because of the pain I got up and distracted myself by cleaning the house

Worship Songs To Play During Labor & Delivery

I was recently encouraged by my friend Angie from Redeeming Childbirth to make a worship playlist to play during labor and delivery. Her passion is to inspire pregnant women to invite God into the process of bringing a baby into the world, especially since He is the one who knit that baby together! Psalm 139:13-17 13 For you created my inmost being;     you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;     your works are wonderful,     I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you     when I was made in the secret place,     when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;     all the days ordained for

The Impact An Apology Can Make On My Family

I am not the best at apologizing. It can be a challenge for me as my pride flares up and my desire for validation for my feelings instruct me to do anything else but apologize. To say the words… I’m sorry. I was wrong. Will you forgive me? …they all require a heart of humility. Something I desire, but do not always have. However, the times that I have prayed to God for help in this area, He graciously moves my heart to apologize. The impact an apology can on my family is beautiful as it reconciles us. Whether I am apologizing to my husband or my child, it creates an atmosphere of peace where love can truly thrive. Have you ever considered the impact

Falling Into My Husband’s Arms To Weep

I had been at the doctor’s office for over an hour. Sitting across from me my doctor explained to me the diagnosis and where to go from there. All I can remember is a gut-punch feeling that I would never be normal again. Stuck on autopilot as emotions ran wild in my heart, I made it home safely. My husband was sitting at the kitchen table when I walked in. I can recall the moment as if it happened in slow motion. Still seated in his chair he pushed it out from the table and made eye contact with me and I broke. I slumped my body down on his lap, tucked my head into his neck and wept. My husband had no idea what

Why I Love Being Pregnant!

I really love being pregnant! I am almost full term with my second baby and the joy in my heart is bursting at the seams. Sure being pregnant can be challenging. There are things that are a potential risk that should be avoided for the health of the baby, simple things become uncomfortable like sitting and laying down, and then there is the anxiety of not knowing if baby is perfect. In fact, just last week during a routine appointment we heard an irregular heartbeat. We were shocked and scared for what it meant, but thankfully the doctors were able to quickly rule out any serious issues in a few days. I realize that everyone woman experiences different things throughout pregnancy, but regardless of the

Advice For Expecting Mother’s

I am 35 weeks pregnant with our second child. I am in awe of the way God intricately designed our bodies to carry children, as well as His beautiful design of family. The older I get, the more grateful I am for the beauty of marriage and parenting. I have some incredible women in my life who celebrated my role as a mother and the life of this child with a baby shower just a few weeks ago. Right before opening up the most thoughtful gifts for the baby, everyone went around and shared some of their best advice to encourage me as I transition as a mother of one to a mother of two children! Their words were inspiring and I wanted to share
