Seeing The Statue Of Liberty In NYC

When we were on the east coast this last fall, Eliott asked us if we would be seeing the Statue of Liberty. It is one of those iconic pieces of history that catches his eye quickly whether it is in a book or in a commercial or in Red Robin! He is fascinated by her. We knew we would be spending some time in upstate New York for a few days, but we were not sure if we would make it to the city. We were planning on flying out of New Jersey so I thought at best we could see her on our way to the airport. Turns out we ended staying a night in NYC! It all worked out so wonderfully. Not only

Our One Day In Maine

Aaron and I have always had a desire to go to Maine. I wanted to get a taste of the New England fall colors and Aaron wanted to try the famous lobster. When we knew we would be flying our family to the east coast (partly fun and partly business) we decided to make a slight detour for one day and check out Maine. Our final destination was Peabody, Massachusetts and we had to be there midday on a Friday. We planned to fly into Portland, Maine on Thursday and head down the coast to see as much of it as we could. I can’t tell you how much this one day in Maine blessed me! It was a beautiful day. We explored together, we

The Noah’s Ark Encounter In Kentucky

Our son Eliott loves to draw. He also loves Bible stories. Naturally, he tends to draw his versions of David and Goliath, Noah’s Ark, and Jonah. He has a desire to know God’s Word and to understand the different events described in the Bible. Here are a few of the hundreds of Noah’s Ark pictures he has drawn: When we heard about the Ark Experience we couldn’t wait to take Eliott. We knew it would be an adventure that would blow his mind. The Ark Encounter is a perfect family adventure. We spent most of the day there! Oh and if you plan to visit be sure to eat there because the food was really good. It is set up buffet style all-you-can-eat for a

Smith Family Adventures Continue | Vlog #25, 26, 27, & 28

I love vlogging because it has become a little archive of home videos for our children and family to enjoy. They love to look back at the good times we have shared. They are ones for the record books for sure! We hiked to see a giant pumpkin, we adventured Disneyland, we witnessed the great American Solar Eclipse in TOTALITY, and we went blueberry picking. Take some time to catch up on these vlogs. Also be sure to subscribe to our Youtube channel so if I

Surprising Great Grandma Betty | Vlog #24

Early this last spring we ventured to California for a short trip to visit family and spend time with them during Easter. It was a perfect spring break trip for us and the kids. In addition so seeing family, we got to go to the beach, Disney, and do a special hike to pumpkin rock! There was one specific person that I was excited to visit, my Grandma Betty. She had never met our youngest son, Wyatt, and we thought it would be fun to just show up and surprise her! She was so blessed! She loved that we came to see her and my kids loved checking out the new place she was living. Grandma Betty is getting older. I noticed when I talked

Our Favorite Restaurant In Salem & The Oregon Zoo | Vlog 23

My husband and I LOVE food. We always joke that we should quit everything and do a food blog, just so we could travel and eat and write about it. We may never ever do this, but every once in a while a place is too good not to share. Word of Mouth Bistro in Salem, OR, has some incredibly delicious food. We have been there several times now over the last few years as we pass through Salem during our trips to Portland. By the time I’m back home, I am dreaming about our next visit. The food is that good! Our favorites for breakfast are the cinnamon roll pancakes, the creme brulee french toast, and the incredible flying biscuit. If you are near
