Things I Love

Risen: Movie Review

The other day my husband mentioned a movie he wanted to see called Risen. I had not heard about it, so I did a quick search to watch the trailer. I share the trailer below for you to check out. After previewing the film, I knew I wanted to see it with my husband because I enjoy seeing faith-based films and anything related to Jesus up on the big screen. It inspires me to visually see what I know from the Bible and I think it is pretty neat that others get to have that kind of exposure to the Gospel. Something I have been wanting to share for a while pertaining to faith-based movies: I know some people like to argue whether a faith-based

10 Things I Do Immediately After Watching “Fixer Upper”

I couldn’t wait for Season 3 to start. I found “Fixer Upper” when my family and I were visiting my parents during the summer. They have t.v. and had a dozen or so episodes recorded. Within seconds I was hooked. In a short period of time I managed to catch up on all the episodes. Watching the show sent inspiration flying around my heart. I love their talent and just about everything they do! Chip and Joanna’s banter back and forth was awesome to see, making me laugh and appreciate their way of interacting with each other. Last night, my husband and I curled up in bed to watch the Season 3 Premiere. Immediately following the credits I did what I always do after watching

39 Rituals To Do With Your Family To Build Strong Love

Is today any different than yesterday? Yes, today is different and I want to celebrate! Today I woke up to a winter wonderland. The first snow of the season has made its debut and it is absolutely stunning. About a week ago my friends and I were in bible study discussing the importance of rituals – things we choose to do with our family that will make a positive impact on them. Ritual: always done in a particular situation and in the same way each time. My pastor’s wife challenged us to consider what kinds of rituals we already do or plan to do with our families to make our families closer and stronger. I had remembered back to my childhood, growing up in Southern California. Whenever

My Heart: When My Husband Helps

The other day my husband spent ten hours helping some friends of ours move into their new home. When I caught up with him later, I told him how awesome it is that he is willing to help our friends like that. A smile grew on his face. He knows he is a good friend, and he is proud of that. He is always there to help. He is a quick responder. He acts with willingness, joy, strength. He has always been this way. I love seeing my husband have such a big heart. It also reaffirms for me just how much he loves our family. He helps so much with our needs too. When he sees a need, he does what he can to fill

Do You Feel Lonely? This Will Help!

My husband and I love community. We love to sit with friends and family and share life together. We have found that having people in our lives who we can trust, who we can talk to about important things, who we can celebrate with and pray with is a necessity. Life without community is lonely! And it is in loneliness that we feel undervalued, unwanted, unloved, inadequate, and being lonely leads to a vulnerable place where the enemy tempts us to sin. It was in our third year of marriage that my husband and I really understood the value of community. We made friends with other married couples who were willing to share life together, willing to navigate God’s Word together, willing to be transparent

Thirty-One Prayers For My Husband & Thirty-One Prayers For My Wife

Now is the time for prayer. We need to be spending time in prayer for one another, for marriages to be strengthened, for families to turn their hearts toward God, for change, for healing, for restoration, for revival. My husband and I started our relationship on a foundation of prayer. We both dedicated time each day to pray for each other and to pray for our relationship. We have been together for almost 11 years and married for almost 9 and I can tell you in confidence that our relationship is where it is today because of The Lord’s presence in our life and our willingness to commit to prayer. There were many times in the beginning of our marriage where hardships caused my heart
