As women we tend to be very aware of our bodies. As we focus on our bodies or certain parts of our bodies, it seems as though we tend to focus on the negative more than the positive. I found this to be true in my life.
What I love about God’s Word is that as we study it, light is shed on specific areas of our lives to help us acknowledge the changes we need to make as we seek to glorify the Lord.
In this devotional we look at scriptures that specifically address: our bodies. We consider the importance of being physically healthy, as well as spiritually healthy.
We are given choices in life. The choices we make contribute to our health, either in a negative way or a positive way. I share about a time in my marriage that I refer to as the ‘Dark Days’ where I allowed depression and frustration to control me. I mention how what I was internalizing manifested externally. I died my hair black when I was usually blonde, I gained 30 pounds, and I just didn’t take care of my body the way that I should have been.
Here is a stark contrast of what I describe about myself in pictures:
2006-2007: Engagement photos just before we married in January.
2008-2009: Depression motivated me to eat bad food and not care about my body.
2010-2011: I began a journey of transformation in my heart which motivated me to get healthy.
It is time to evaluate our lives. Are we destroying the bodies God has gifted to us or are we being good stewards?
I this video I mention a few resources. I have linked these titles below so that you can explore more information if interested:
I also make a statement about sugar and how we know the negative affects of sugar on our bodies. In review, I thought about how you may or may not know this information so I wanted to share a very interesting video about the affects of sugar on our bodies. It is called: The Bitter Truth
