Do You Feel Sustained In This Life?

The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being, sustaining all things by His powerful word.” – Hebrews 1:3

When I read this verse, I immediately thought of the actual sun. The sun and the radiance beaming in brightness has always reminded me of God’s glory and I feel like this verse confirms that for me, even though it says “Son” as in Jesus.Doyoufeelsustainedin

I also love the second part of this verse, specifically when it says, “sustaining all things by his powerful word.”

Sustaining is defined as: strengthen or support physically or mentally.

Jesus sustains us by strengthening us and supporting us physically and mentally. He is our support, our refuge, our everything!

Another definition describes sustaining: undergo or suffer (something unpleasant, especially an injury)

Knowing this definition adds depth to what Jesus sustained for my sake and for yours. He died a horrific death in our place, to cover our sins, to give us eternal life. He sustained and He sustains us.

I am in awe that words can be so powerful. The power of words and the impact they have to transform lives, fuels a desire in me to want to learn more about Jesus’ words. If He sustains all things by His powerful word, we should all be studying His words daily.

How blessed are we that we even have His words recorded?

The Bible is full of inspiration, encouragements and power, we need to be reading and studying it daily. Just as the Earth and everything in it is sustained by the power of the sun on a daily basis, we need to be acknowledge the source that is giving us life daily, Jesus Christ. Know His word, study it, apply it and you will be sustained.

How is your relationship with Jesus?

Are you sustained?

I challenge you to get out your Bible and read Jesus’ words right now.  If you feel more sustained after doing so please encourage others by posting in the comments!
