Lately, I have heard a repetitive message from a few bloggers, a message I have heard in my own heart at times.
I’m worn out
I want to give up and just stop blogging
Then I saw a post on social media talking about how blogging is dead. People who have been blogging over a decade have decided to just stop.
I get it.
I understand how hard it is to maintain blogging.
Especially in a world that…
- is expressively negative toward and fights against Biblical beliefs
- is extremely sensitive, picking up offenses quickly and retaliating with ill words
- is overly saturated with millions of blogs, millions of people already sharing
- is consumed with technology and can’t seem to live “un-plugged” at all
- is defining who you are based upon what you share
- in a world that really needs God
I get it.
As it is getting easier on the technical side for people to start and continue blogging because recourses to do so are bountiful, I believe the emotional side of blogging is getting harder and harder for people. The discouragement is everywhere and mounting. And I am convinced a large part of the reason people are growing weary is because they are on a soapbox sharing the gospel and the enemy does not like that!
So, whether you having been blogging for a decade, been blogging for a few years, just got started or want to start a blog, I have some encouragement for you.
The world needs your blog.
Blogging is an opportunity to share your heart with the world. More than that is is an opportunity to share the light of Christ with the world.
My blog has been used to share my story of marriage and how it reflects the gospel. I share about what God is teaching me and I encourage wives to persevere, to draw close to God, to remain faithful. I have received thousands of messages about how my blog has helped another wife, another marriage, even helped husbands gain perspective about their wives.
Blogs are a means of help for those who need it.
The world needs your blog, because those reading it are craving authenticity, something you can provide. Those reading it are seeking help and insight to a situation, something you can provide. Those reading it have a desire to grow, something you can be a part of.
God knows what people’s needs are. And He knows how to direct them. I am confident that making ourselves available through blogging, gives God the opportunity to send readers our way…so we can send them back to Him!
Maybe you are sharing a personal testimony, maybe you are sharing other people’s stories, maybe you are sharing devotionals, maybe you are sharing about marriage or motherhood, maybe you are sharing a recipe, a life hack, a revolution…
God has equipped you to be able to write and publish articles that are made widely available. Information and resources to help others has never been so available before in history. Blogging is not dead! I will continue on in faithfulness until the Lord tells me I am done!
For those who openly and courageously share the gospel through a blog and through social media, we have the potential to reach thousands, hundreds of thousands, millions, collectively, all for the glory of God!
Please don’t stop what you are doing!
Please hang in there and do not grow weary of doing good. Please understand your purpose and the impact you are making in the lives of others.
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. – Galatians 6:9
The discouragement you feel won’t tell you this, but I will, the world needs your blog! Don’t give up!
If you have been considering whether you should stop blogging, start blogging or start again after stopping, my greatest urge to you is to yield your heart to God and allow Him to lead you!
