The Smith’s Are Having a Baby!

This has got to be the most exciting post I have ever written!  It is a very personal message from my husband and I.

In January we celebrated our 5-year wedding anniversary.  The memories we have made together are treasures that we will always be grateful for.  Our marriage has been full of hardships, and joys, and of course everything in between.  It has been the two of us, best friends experiencing life abundantly.

In the last year our desire for being parents one day have grown exponentially.  We daydream about having a bigger family, sharing experiences with our children, and leaving a legacy.  We submitted our desire before the Lord and prayed that we would have a child in God’s timing.

We are thrilled to share with you that we recently found out that I am pregnant!

That’s right… our lives just changed forever!

We feel that God gave us the desire to be parents in preparation for this day.  Although we are a bit overwhelmed with the responsibility of raising our first child, we think it is a beautiful honor and we cannot wait to meet him/her! (Its still to early to tell)

This fall we will be welcoming our sweet baby!  Until then, I hope you enjoy a few posts on pregnancy, my personal experience carrying a child in my womb and how it affects our marriage!

For all you moms out there who have great advice or anyone who has a prayer for us please don’t hesitate to post in the comments!

Suzie, I never thought of that before! Thank you for such an awesome suggestion, I will definitely do that! Be blessed!

I would like to share me and my husband’s view on our pregnancies (6… 2 are in heaven and the other 4 are here with us blessing us EVERY day). I/we have always believed that in those times it was not me being pregnant but us. I always would state as “we are pregnant.” If you really think about it it is a joint experience even from the very beginning (conception).
I truly believe this helped my husband be a true part of those 9 month periods of our marriage. Sometimes husbands can feel alone, ignored, and even get jealous. Help to make him feel a part of this journey in your life. In this you will be honoring not only your hubby but ultimately our glorious Father giving you two this precious, precious gift.
May the Lord’s hands protect you and this precious gift and bring him/her into this world healthy and strong.

Congratulations! Get ready for the ride of your life! Parenting is one of the toughest, challenging life journies however I cannot imagine life without our two awesome kids! The joy they have brought far outweighs the challenges! Always remember that you are parents though. Later when they are adults you’ll have time for “friendship” until that time kids need parents that set boundaries, goals, expectations and aren’t afraid to say heck no! God Bless!

We have been blessed with one child so far, and what an amazing experience it has been! She is now 13, and a more heartfelt, considerate, thoughtful child one could not ask for :) I pray for you to be blessed throughout your pregnancy, and to trust that the 3 of you (God, hubby and self) can make raising your bundle of joy look like a breeze 😉

Congratulations! I can’t wait to follow along with your pregancy journey. As far as advice, the best advice I have us remember that you get to choose which advice you follow. You will get all kinds; solicited and unsolicited, and you, being the expert of your body and baby, has the right to pick and choose. Prayers for you.

    Congratulations :)

I have PCOS, and after wrestling with the Lord, I finally left it up to Him.  If it is His will that I am to be a parent, it will happen.  If not, I accept that.  And perhaps we’ll be a parent by different means . . . and I’ll gladly accept that.  And after that heartfelt prayer, I was at peace with everything.  Then, about four months later, I was pregnant.  And four months after I delivered my daughter, I was pregnant again.  When my son turn 14 months, we discovered we’re pregnant again.  I recently found out we’re expecting #3 at the end of October.  Sometimes we should be careful what we wish for! 😉

It has been an amazing, but not easy, experience!  But being a mom is one of the most wonderful things you can experience on this earth.  Children ARE a blessing.

  • Momof7boys2011

How truly exciting and blessed. My husband and I have 7 children all boys and they are all such wonderful blessings and gifts. Pregnancy is an amazing journey with ups and downs but God truly is amazing. Congratulations momma and daddy :)

Dear God, Thank You for the wonderful gift of this new life. Please protect this new growing baby and help Mum to enjoy every experience of this wonderful pregnancy. Father open the eyes of the parents-to-be so that they may follow your guidance about the way in which you want them to parent this beautiful baby on his/her journey into adulthood. And finally Father please encourage and protect Mum as she embarks on this beautiful and challenging journey of motherhood. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.

What a sweet Joy! I am a mom of 3 and step mom to 2, the only advise i have is “dont blink” video everything, Love them, snuggle them, giggle them, and teach them to praise and thank our lord and savior, and most of all, just listen. Pregnancy Massage is a must, find a MT that specializes in Prenatal, so she can teach your husband how to help you durring labor, its a must have for pain relief!. Blessings for a healthy, normal, uneventful pregnancy in Jesus name! Congratulations Dear ones!

  • Ssmcalister

..ahhhhhh!! Congrats to both of you!!!! I could write a whole book of advice for y’all….as I am a proud mom of #1 Brandon, age 18…#2 Brittany, age 13, #3 Nathaniel, age 9, #4 Nicholas, age 5…….AND #5 Baby Christian…age 20 months!!!! T wilhe journey ahead will be amazing, at times scary………and lots of frustration, too! This is by far the most rewarding “job” I have ever had…tho those little buggers aren’t good at tipping their waitress/maid/nurse/personal secretary/chef/chauffeur…..but, it’s ok!!

God’s continued Blessings to you both & Enjoy every moment of your pregnancy…..9 months seems like FOREVER at times…..but then, suddenly…it’s TIME!!

  • Elizabeth Howard

Congratulations on being pregnant and becoming mom and dad!  Babies do not come with instruction manuals-so don’t be too hard on yourselves if the baby cries and you have tried everything and nothing seems to work. Other than that, just enjoy every stage of  his/her development as it goes by quickly. Listen to what God says about raising kids. The love you are about to experience is incredible! Again, so happy for the both of you!

  • ArnitaLFields

Praise the Lord! Bless you both as you begin your new journey together.
