Women Of Faith Event Review

Women-of-Faith-ReviewI had the opportunity to attend Women of Faith this year in Anaheim, Ca. Now just to be clear, this event was not a marriage event/conference, it was specifically to encourage women. I felt compelled to address that right away since most of my reviews cover marriage material whether books, movies, or conferences.

And yet, I felt so revived leaving the Women of Faith event and with a handful of notes that will surely have an impact on my marriage. I hope this review not only gives you insight into the event, but also excites you about attending one in your area.

I went to Women of Faith with my two good friends Joanne and Jacque. We made a girls date out of it by going to dinner first and then heading to the arena. We were so thrilled about being there alongside so many other women that we snapped this picture to capture our joy and time shared together!photo 4

Women Of Faith is a two day event. On Friday night it started with worship with thousands of women joining in to sing together and then jumped straight into the Word of God with a teaching from Lysa TerKeurst. I have had the privilege of hearing her speak a few times, always with a passion to share a new perspective of God’s Word. Lysa taught on a wise woman described in 2 Samuel 20, encouraging the women in the audience to be like the wise woman and be women who have established a pattern of wisdom.

Stand on the promises of God, not on our problems. – Lysa TerKeurst

Sheila Walsh followed up with a relevant message on facing the storms of life.

Storms have a way of showing us what we believe. – Sheila Walsh

No matter what our “storm” is we must keep our faith in God and rely on Him! We must trust Him with our life.

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. – Psalm 143:8

After Lysa and Sheila inspired us with The Word, Natalie Grant graced us with a powerful performance, leading us into a time of worship. And this was one of the most touching parts for me. Natalie shared a song she wrote for a family member struggling with a drug addiction. I wanted to share it with you right now, because if you know anyone who is living without Jesus in their life you will claim this song for them, it is just that beautiful!

The next day was just as encouraging as the night before. Patsy Clairmont, who has been married for 52 years, shared many moments from her marriage teaching us about being peacemakers in our home and seekers of God. She mentioned how in the early years of marriage she depended on her husband more than God…something I also struggled with.

I wanted him to be what Jesus wanted to be for me. – Patsy Clairmont

Patsy also shared that we must not count on our feelings to verify the truth. Meaning we need to know the truth, by knowing God’s Word. Our feelings can often times lead us to believe lies or assume things that are not the truth. We must be girded in the truth!

The event ran a few more hours with worship from Matthew West, and teaching from Lisa Brevere, Christine Caine, and Lisa Harper. We had an intermission for lunch where we ate and chatted about all the different messages we heard and what stood out to us. We also met several women who also attended and chatted with them about what highlights had touched their heart.

The night wrapped up with Lisa Harper, who has one of the biggest smiles I know! Her joy was radiating from the stage. As passionate as she was to encourage all the women who attended the event, she did not shy away from the truth and she shared with boldness.

Repentance spurs revival. – Lisa Harper

The heartbeat of Women Of Faith is to teach women about who God is and how much we desperately need Him in our lives. Every speaker, every singer, every person who participated in preparing this Women of Faith tour wanted women to gain an understanding of God, but to also know that we need to repent of the sin that drags us down, the sin that tries to isolate us from God. The Women of Faith team desire to see women move from survival to revival. It was an inspiring message woven throughout the two days and I believe it was a catalyst for change in many women’s lives!

I will be attending the Women of Faith in Portland this December, so if you are close by I hope you can make it out!
