We Don’t Call Them Terrible Two’s

Our son Wyatt turns 2 today! As he takes strides out of toddler phase and into becoming a big boy I have some thoughts I want to share, thoughts that hopefully inspire you in your parenting journey! The first thing is that the transition to becoming a big kid is a big deal! Whether you start making changes in your children’s life around a milestone birthday or a random day of the week doesn’t really matter. What matters is the message we are handing to them through the power of our words and actions. For example, we decided that Wyatt was old enough for a “Big Kid Bed” meaning he would no longer sleep in his crib, but a twin bed with a real comforter

Prayer: Relieve Stress From Parenthood

Dear God, You have given children as a blessing. Thank You for each and every one of those precious little blessings. We lift up parents right now. Thank You for their courage and bravery in raising children and the sacrifices they make on a daily basis. May Your grace give them power and enable them to be strong parents who teach children Your ways. Give them wisdom and help them to lead a legacy of Christians. May You relieve any stress that comes with parenting. Bring comfort and tranquility in times of need. Send encouragement to affirm parents. We also lift up those who desire to be parents or are preparing to be parents. May You fill their hearts with hope and take away any

The Power Of Transferring Love

My daughter sat at the kitchen table finishing up her dinner. I was sitting on the couch nursing our youngest. My daughter, Olive, who is three years old, looked over my way and said in the sweetest, high-pitched, Fancy Nancy voice, Mom, when I’m done eating, I’m gonna snuggle with you and hug you and put all of my love in your heart.” My heart filled up immediately. It was as if her just saying those words transferred her love to my heart and filled it up completely. The bonus was her running up to me just a few minutes later to smother me with kisses and hugs. This got me thinking about the way love is transferred. God is love. If God is in

Help! My Children Are Growing Up Too Fast!

Today my son Eliott turns SIX?! It feels like only yesterday that I was in labor, anxious and excited to meet my first child. Now I have four children and time doesn’t seem to be stopping or slowing down enough to savor all of the goodness. The Bible says children are a blessing. As much as I have always been fond of children, eager to babysit or enjoying my job as a preschool assistant back in the day, there is nothing quite like a house full of littles. But that right there is the problem I am having…they aren’t staying little long enough! Some days feel long, some days feel really long, and mommy needs a time out. But overall, in the grand scheme of

Learning To Truly Love

This is a guest post by my friend Ruth Schwenk from The Better Mom!  This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.” —1 JOHN 3:16 Have you ever felt unappreciated as a mom? Have you ever felt frustrated by your kids’ seeming indifference about all you do for them? Guess what? You are not alone. And it’s tough to love when you don’t always get a return. Of course, at times we get a cute card, a text message, or a thank- you. But more often than not, what we do seems to go unnoticed and unappreciated. So we need to guard our hearts

Mommy & Daughter Photoshoot To Celebrate Her Birthday

My daughter Olive just turned 3 years old. I am celebrating and crying at the same time! I feel like 3 is that growth spurt to full grown kid. It is so exciting. She is bubbly, articulate, thoughtful, passionate, and loving. She adores “mamas and babies” and makes it known to everyone. She is sandwiched between two brothers who enjoy playing with her. She is like her dad in many ways, both being extroverts and needing to be chatting with people in conversation all of the time. She loves to dress up, pearl necklaces, “chapicks and lipglass” 24/7, and she randomly told a waiter the other day that he is very handsome. We love you Olive girl and we are blessed to have you in
