Sex and Intimacy in marriage have always been a struggle for me.  I feel inadequate trying to inspire others in this area when it has been such a sensitive area in my own marriage, yet I have a story… one that I hope will at least encourage those of you who for some reason struggle in this area of marriage. My message to you is that you are not alone!

The pain that is sometimes encountered during sexual intimacy, whether it is emotional pain or physical pain, can affect the marriage relationship in great ways.  I have experienced hardships that stir because of lack of intimacy and my heart is heavy for others who endure them. Unveiled Wife was created because of my experience, as I felt the urge to share a platform for wives to talk about these hardships in marriage in hopes of building a community of encouragement where we can encounter healing!

Please watch the video below to hear a glimpse of my testimony.

Revive Your Praise In Marriage encouragements for wives words of affirmation Revive Your Marriage praise in marriage Unveiled Wife

“Each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.” – Ephesians 5:33

I believe that this verse is very specific in directing husbands and wives to respond to each other’s greatest needs.  Although husbands and wives both need love and respect in marriage, I believe wives desire more to be loved and I believe husbands desire more to be respected.  These two needs are obvious in God’s great design of those He created in His image.

One of the best ways to show your husband respect is through praise.  Men respond positively to praise.  Praise is a warm approval shared through words of affirmation from a heart full of gratitude.  It is through a wife’s praise in an intimate setting, as well as given in the presence of others that a husband feels respected, appreciated, valued, cherished and loved.

So far we have encouraged you all to Revive Your Prayers In Marriage and Revive Your Attitude In Marriage! This week we are encouraging you to Revive Your Friendship In Marriage!

Friendship in marriage is one of the most beautiful aspects of relationship a husband and wife can experience. I believe friendship in marriage is established by a couple’s willingness to share with each other emotional energy.  As a husband and wife are transparent with each other, talk about their feelings, lean on one another for support, enjoy activities together, and express dreams and desires for their future, their friendship deepens.

However, if a couple is not willing to invest emotional energy into their marriage, there is risk of one or both of them building strong friendships elsewhere, whether with their children, family or friends.  It is ok to have friendships in your other relationships, yet some people replace a marital friendship by being fulfilled elsewhere.  This is unfortunate because a husband and wife who do not share a strong friendship are missing out on one of the greatest gifts God has given us. Attitude is a way of thinking and it’s reflected through behavior.  It is what determines how we respond to people or situations.

Because attitude stems from perspective, it can quickly change.  I am all too familiar with attitude.  My attitude can change based on my experience at the grocery store or facing writer’s block when trying to come up with new content for my blog.

I heard a story recently of a couple who were married for 26 years, had such a tough time they followed through with a divorce, but then reconciled shortly after and remarried!  They just celebrated their one year (27 year) Wedding Anniversary!  It was so encouraging to hear a testimony of reconciliation and it also reminded me that revival can happen at anytime!

So what better time than now?
